This picture is to honor one of the loveliest Muppet couples of all time, Floyd Pepper and Janice of the Electric Mayhem. This picture, also, is dedicated in remembrance of two of the most amazing men in the world. Not surprisingly, these two men were also the players behind the featured couple: Jerry Nelson and Richard Hunt (respectively).
Jerry Nelson died August 23, 2012, which was a few days ago. Richard Hunt passed away January 7, 1992. Both made countless generations happy with their characters on The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, and elsewhere.
The only reason that this picture is as late as it is deals with the same reason I didn't find out about Jerry's death until the next day: I was really busy moving into college. Well, Friday night, I checked my e-mail and found a message on Jerry's passing. I was devastated and (since I found it at dinner) couldn't really eat. Immediately, I wanted to draw something in remembrance of Mr. Nelson. Being the fan of the Electric Mayhem that I am, I immediately chose Floyd as the subject. I knew I wanted to draw Floyd and Janice in the picture together, but it was through talking to my friend and fellow Muppet fan, ~RockyWizardria, that I really got more of a concrete idea. (And apparently we also share a mindlink, because she also suggested Floyd and Janice...)
Rest In Peace, Jerry Nelson. Here's hoping you reunite with Richard, Jim, and all that went before you up in heaven.
